The Reason for the Charge
JMVRA is completely open access, so readers pay nothing. With no subscription income, the running costs of the journal are covered by a one-time article processing charge, paid once a paper is accepted.
Money from the charge goes toward editorial handling, similarity screening, running the peer review workflow, copy editing and typesetting, DOI registration and metadata deposit when requested, lasting hosting of the article, plus the certificates and records authors receive. Charging readers instead would lock the work behind a paywall and cut the readership of each article the journal publishes.
It matters that the charge comes after acceptance and not at submission: this keeps the editorial decision apart from payment, so nobody can pay to bypass peer review.

| Foreign authors | $41 USD | For each accepted article, with up to 5 authors included. Your bank levies bank and currency conversion charges separately |
| Number of authors | Up to 5 authors included | The publication fee includes no more than 5 authors. Any author past the 5th is charged additionally: ₹500 per additional author |
| When payable | After acceptance only | Nothing is due at submission or while under review |
Services on request
None of these is required for publication. Each is supplied only if you request it, once the paper is accepted:
- Crossref DOIOn request
- Hard copy of certificateOn request
- Hard copy of journalOn request
- Plagiarism reportOn request
- Review report shared with the authorOn request
Your cost, based on the number of authors
The publication fee includes up to 5 authors. Every author past the 5th adds ₹500. For Indian authors, this works out as follows:
A single fee for each accepted article
Due only after peer review has led to acceptance of your paper. Payment cannot bring about acceptance, and nothing is owed at submission or during review.
- After acceptance only — never at submission
- Up to 5 authors included in the single fee
- ₹500 per author past the 5th
- Receipt given for each payment
Included: publication (online, open access) · typesetting · soft copy of certificate · confirmation letter · acceptance letter (PDF, by email)
Prior to paying, get the editorial office to confirm the total in writing, covering any tax that applies and any optional extras you asked for. The amount stated here should agree with the submission portal and with your acceptance email — if these three ever disagree, ask first before you pay.

- Use official channelsStick to the ones named in that email, and never act on details from an unverified third party

- Send the confirmationTo the editorial office, with your paper ID in the subject line
Pay online securely — after acceptance
Make payment only through the official jmvra.org payment pages or the channels listed in your acceptance email, and give your paper ID so that the payment can be linked to your manuscript.
Receipts and Invoices
Every payment received is acknowledged with a receipt. Should your institution need an invoice in a specific format, or made out to a department or funder instead of to you, ask for it before paying and provide the precise billing details — an invoice reissued later takes longer and may not be possible.
Hold on to the receipt together with your paper ID and the published DOI; as a set, they make up the full record of the publication for institutional reporting.
Waivers and Concessions
If a waiver or concession policy applies, the editorial office confirms who is eligible, what evidence is needed and the deadline for asking. Any request has to be made before payment; it cannot be applied afterwards.
Waiver requests are dealt with apart from the editorial decision and do not affect whether a paper is accepted.
Refund Position
JMVRA takes the publication fee only after acceptance — nothing is due at submission or during review. After a paper has been accepted and the fee paid, the publication fee cannot be refunded, since the editorial, review and publication work it covers has already been done. Complete terms are in the Refund Policy.
If a payment was duplicated, made by mistake, or made for an article that the journal later does not publish, write to the editorial office with the paper ID and payment reference so that the case can be looked at on its facts.

Budgeting and Record-Keeping for Article Processing Costs
Publication charges are a practical matter as much as an ethical one. Planning for them and documenting every step reduces stress and protects you against misunderstandings.
- Raise funding questions early. Ask your department, supervisor or grant office about support for publication costs before you submit. Approvals often take longer than expected, and early enquiry avoids last-minute pressure.
- Confirm what the amount covers. Ask in writing whether the charge includes editing, identifiers, formatting and online hosting. Knowing inclusions in advance prevents surprise add-ons later.
- Pay only through official channels. Use payment methods named on the journal's own website and be wary of requests from personal accounts or unfamiliar messages. If something looks odd, verify with the office.
- Request a proper receipt. Keep the receipt or invoice with your manuscript identifier and date. Institutions often require such proof for reimbursement, audits and annual reports.
- Understand withdrawal terms before agreeing. Read what happens to any payment if you withdraw or the paper is not published. Clear knowledge of these terms is part of making an informed submission.
Plan for costs early, confirm inclusions in writing, pay through official channels only and keep every receipt.
Questions Researchers Often Ask
Is payment required when I submit?
No. Submitting, screening and reviewing are all free of charge. A payment is requested only once a paper is accepted.
Will paying raise my chances of being accepted?
No. Reviewers and the editor decide on the merits of the work, ahead of any request for payment.
Is the fee charged for each author?
No. It is one charge for each accepted article and includes no more than 5 authors. When a paper has over 5 authors, an additional ₹500 applies to every author beyond the 5th.
Can the publication fee be refunded?
The fee is taken only after acceptance, and once paid it cannot be refunded. If you overpaid or paid two times, email [email protected] with your paper ID and payment details; the editor verifies the payment and returns the extra amount.
Is it possible to invoice my institution directly?
Contact the editorial office before paying and provide the exact billing details needed.
Does the charge include the DOI?
No — a Crossref DOI can be had on request. Details are on the CrossRef DOI page.
Which optional services can I add?
Five optional extras are offered, and only when you ask: the plagiarism report, the Transparent Peer Review Report, a Crossref DOI, a printed certificate and a printed copy of the journal. Nothing arrives automatically; send your request after acceptance together with your paper ID.
How can I pay online?
Once accepted, go to the online payment page or use the channels listed in your acceptance email, and quote your paper ID.
Does JMVRA count as a low-cost journal?
Nothing is payable ahead of acceptance. After that, each accepted article costs ₹971 INR for Indian authors and $41 USD for foreign authors, and that sum includes up to 5 authors.
Are GST or other taxes added?
Before paying, have the editorial office confirm the total in writing, with any tax that applies. The amount due is given in the acceptance email.
What will I pay for a paper with 6 or 7 authors?
Indian authors pay ₹971 INR, which includes up to 5 authors; every further author after the 5th costs ₹500 more, giving ₹2001 for 6 authors and ₹2501 for 7. Services on request are charged only if you ask for them.
May I pay ahead of my paper’s acceptance?
No. The acceptance email is where the fee is first requested, after acceptance. Treat any demand for payment before acceptance as a warning sign and report it to [email protected].
What is covered by the ₹971 INR / $41 USD fee?
The fee brings online open access publication (CC BY 4.0), typesetting, a digital certificate per author, a confirmation letter and an acceptance letter that is emailed as a PDF. Further items are issued on request: the plagiarism report, the Transparent Peer Review Report, a Crossref DOI, and printed certificate and journal copies.
