If Terms Change
Reading Submission Terms Carefully Before You Agree
Clicking a box at submission creates real commitments. These tips help authors understand what they are agreeing to and prepare their manuscripts and co-authors accordingly.
- Read the full text once. Set aside a quiet few minutes to read the complete terms instead of scrolling past them. Knowing your obligations early prevents misunderstandings later.
- Confirm every co-author agrees. Share the manuscript and the terms with all listed authors and obtain their approval in writing. Disputes over authorship are far harder to settle after publication.
- Check your rights over included material. Make sure that images, data and text from other sources are cleared for use. You are confirming that you hold the necessary permissions.
- Understand what a licence allows. Learn how others may reuse your published article and what you keep. If anything is unclear, ask the editors before submitting.
- Save a copy of the terms. Download or print the version that applied when you submitted. Policies can be updated, and a copy shows what you accepted.
Read the terms, secure co-author consent and confirm permissions before you submit, since the agreement binds you from that moment.
