Paperback
The default choice. Perfect-bound with a laminated soft cover, printed on demand so there is no stock to buy and no minimum order.
Hardcover
Case-bound with a rigid board cover. The edition libraries and institutions prefer to shelve, and the one authors order for presentations and departmental copies.
Ebook
EPUB and Kindle-ready files with reflowable text, so the book stays readable on a phone as well as a tablet. Delivered instantly, worldwide, with no printing cost at all.
What Gets Built Around Your Manuscript
Your chapters are the middle of the object. This is everything that wraps around them — all of it produced for you, on every plan.
Front Matter
The pages before chapter one. Short, conventional, and the part reviewers check first.
The Body
Your manuscript, typeset. This is the only part we cannot write for you.
Back Matter
Everything a reader turns to after finishing — and what makes a book citable.
Choosing a Trim Size
Trim size is the finished page dimension. It changes page count, print cost and how the book sits on a shelf next to others in its field. Shown here in proportion to each other.
| If your book is… | Trim | Binding | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| A thesis rewritten as a monograph | 6 × 9 in | Paperback + ebook | What academic libraries and reviewers expect to receive |
| Poetry or short fiction | Demy | Paperback | Comfortable line length; lowest print cost per copy |
| A textbook with figures | A5 | Paperback | Fits diagrams without shrinking them past readability |
| Conference proceedings | A4 | Paperback | Holds full-width tables and camera-ready paper layouts |
| A gift, memorial or institutional volume | 6 × 9 in | Hardcover | Case binding survives handling and looks the part on a shelf |
| Anything over 600 pages | A5 or 6 × 9 in | Hardcover | Perfect binding starts to crack at that thickness |
Where Your Book Appears
Distribution is what turns a printed file into a book somebody can find and buy. These are the channels a listing can reach.
What distribution does and does not do
Listing puts your book in front of anyone who searches for it. It does not, on its own, make people search — that is what the marketing services below are for. A realistic first year for a self-published academic title is driven by your own network: your department, your conference audience, the researchers who cite you, and the students on your reading list.
The channels reached depend on your plan. Amazon, Flipkart and the 200+ store network are included with Premium and can be added to the other plans; every plan gets a free ISBN, which is what makes a book orderable through libraries and independent bookshops in the first place.

Find Your Plan in Three Questions
Nothing is sent anywhere — this just reads the table above for you.
Everything You Need to Know About ISBN
What the 13 Digits Actually Mean
An ISBN is not a random serial number. Each block carries information, which is why it can be read by a system that has never heard of your book.
The number of digits in the registrant and publication blocks varies — a publisher issuing few titles gets a longer registrant block and fewer digits for titles, and vice versa. The total is always 13.
Complete Book Marketing Support
Publishing is just the start — these services help you reach readers and build your author brand.
Amazon Optimisation
Keywords, categories and description optimised for Amazon search visibility.
Google Books Submission
Your book submitted for indexing on Google Books and Google Play for organic discovery.
Author Branding
Author bio and brand identity support to help you build a recognisable presence as a writer.
The Fields That Decide Who Finds Your Book
Every retailer, library and search engine sees your book through this record and nothing else. It takes twenty minutes to fill in properly and it outlives the launch by decades.
What Happens Once the Book Is Out
Publication is a date; distribution is a rollout. Channels pick the book up at their own pace, and none of them announce it.
ISBN assigned, files locked
The final interior and cover are approved by you and sent to print and to the distribution feed. From this point a change means a new edition, so this is the last proofread that matters.
Author copies dispatched
Where your plan includes printed copies, they are produced and shipped. Standard and Premium include five; other plans can order print-on-demand copies at cost.
Retail listings appear
Amazon and Flipkart pages go live and become orderable. New listings often show a longer dispatch estimate for the first few weeks — that is print-on-demand warming up, not a stock problem.
Search and library indexing
Google Books, Play Books and the Ingram catalogue that feeds independent bookshops and library suppliers all refresh on their own schedules. Nothing needs doing during this window; it simply takes the time it takes.
DOI resolves, citations become possible
Where a CrossRef DOI was registered, it starts resolving and the book becomes citable in the same way a journal article is. This is the point at which a thesis-derived book stops being a repository file and starts being a reference.
First sales reports
Retailers report and settle on their own cycles, typically 30–60 days behind the sale. Your royalty share is 100% — what arrives is the sale price less that retailer's own commission, the print cost and applicable tax.
The part only you can do
Add the book to your CV, your ORCID record, your institutional profile and your email signature. Mention it where your field gathers. For an academic title the first hundred readers almost always come from the author's own network — no distribution channel substitutes for that.
Self-Publishing & Book Publication — A Complete Guide
Self-publishing has transformed the Indian publishing landscape, empowering authors to bring their stories, research and ideas to readers without waiting years for a traditional publisher's approval. JW Book, operated by JMVRA Publication — the same publisher behind JMVRA — is an affordable self-publishing platform offering manuscript formatting, cover design, ISBN registration and global distribution under one roof.
Whether you are a first-time author writing a debut novel, a researcher converting a thesis into a published monograph, a professor producing a textbook, or an institution publishing conference proceedings, JW Book provides the tools and infrastructure to publish professionally, affordably and quickly. The in-house Anvi-AI Book Creator platform can help accelerate the process by assisting authors in drafting, structuring and formatting manuscripts.
Self-Publishing vs. Traditional Publishing
Traditional publishing houses typically take many months to a few years to evaluate, accept and print a manuscript, and commonly offer authors only a small percentage of royalty on net sales. Self-publishing puts the author in control from day one: you set your own book's direction, retain full copyright, and keep your royalty. The trade-off is that authors take on more of the upfront coordination themselves — which is exactly what a platform like JW Book is built to simplify.
| Factor | Traditional Publisher | JW Book Self-Publishing |
|---|---|---|
| Time to publish | Several months to years | 7–25 days |
| Author royalty | Typically a small % of net sales | 100% to author |
| Copyright ownership | Often assigned to publisher | 100% author-owned |
| ISBN | Publisher's own ISBN | Free with every plan |
| Creative control | Publisher decides | Author decides |
| AI writing support | Not typically offered | Anvi-AI included |
Where the Money Goes
The single largest difference between the two routes is not speed — it is what reaches the author out of each sale. The bars below show the author's share under each arrangement.
Book Publication Services Offered
- Self-book publication with ISBN
- Research and academic book publication
- Conference proceeding book publication
- Thesis-to-book conversion
- Paperback and hardcover printing
- Ebook publishing (Kindle, EPUB, PDF)

ISBN vs. CrossRef/DataCite DOI — What's the Difference?
A book receives an ISBN, the standard identifier used by libraries, bookstores and distributors to catalogue and sell a physical or digital edition. A CrossRef/DataCite DOI serves a different purpose: it makes a work permanently citable in academic contexts, resolvable via https://doi.org/, and discoverable through Google Scholar and similar citation tools. Fiction and general-interest books typically only need an ISBN; academic, research and thesis-derived books benefit from adding a DOI alongside it.
JW Book's Place in the JMVRA Publication Family
JW Book (jwbook.org) is the book-publishing arm of JMVRA Publication, the same publisher group behind JMVRA and its sister research journals. Where JMVRA and its affiliated journals focus on peer-reviewed research paper publication, JW Book focuses specifically on full-length book publication — academic monographs, theses converted to books, conference proceedings volumes, and general-interest titles across every genre.
That shared parentage is the reason a book published here arrives with academic infrastructure already attached rather than bolted on afterwards. JMVRA is a UGC CARE Approved Journal (ISSN 2984-8911, impact factor 11.25, publishing since 2023) operating to Scopus Standard editorial practice — transparent peer review, declared conflicts of interest, permanent open access and CrossRef DOI registration for every record. The same editorial office, the same DOI prefix and the same reviewer pool sit behind a JW Book title, which is why peer review of a book is something that can simply be added to a plan instead of arranged from scratch.

Six Kinds of Author, One Process
A thesis, a textbook and a poetry collection need different handling — the route through is the same.
Research Scholars
Turning a completed PhD thesis into a citable book — the single most common reason authors arrive here. ISBN plus an optional DOI makes it referenceable in its own right.
Faculty & Academics
Textbooks, reference works and edited volumes. Chapter-wise contributions from multiple authors are supported, each contributor credited.
Conference Organisers
Proceedings published as an edited volume with its own ISBN — see the conference proposal route.
Practitioners
Professional handbooks, case-study collections and industry guides drawn from working experience rather than formal research.
Poets & Fiction Writers
Literary work is published on the same terms — free ISBN, 100% royalty, and distribution alongside academic titles.
Regional Language Authors
Manuscripts in Indian languages are accepted and typeset. A regional-language book gets the same ISBN and distribution as an English one.
What an ISBN Actually Buys You
| Aspect | Without an ISBN | With an ISBN |
|---|---|---|
| Bookshop & retail listing | Not possible — retailers order by ISBN | Listable on Amazon, Flipkart and 200+ stores |
| Library acquisition | Libraries cannot catalogue it | Catalogued and orderable worldwide |
| Academic recognition | Often not counted for promotions | Counts as a formal publication |
| Citation by others | No standard identifier to cite | Unambiguous, permanent reference |
| Sales tracking | No royalty trail | Sales attributed to you across platforms |
| Discoverability | Effectively invisible to search | Indexed in bibliographic databases |
ISBN and DOI do different jobs
An ISBN identifies the book as a physical and commercial object — it is what a shop, library or distributor orders against. A DOI identifies the content and resolves to it permanently online, which is what makes an academic work citable in a reference list. A research book benefits from both; a novel needs only the ISBN.
Preparing Your Manuscript
Nothing here is mandatory before you talk to us — but a manuscript in this shape moves faster.
Turning a Thesis Into a Book
A completed thesis is already the hard part. What remains is rewriting it for a reader who is not your examiner.
Strip the Apparatus
The literature-review chapter, the methodology justification and the “gap in the research” framing exist to satisfy examiners. A book reader does not need them at that length.
Lead With the Finding
A thesis builds to its conclusion; a book states it early and then shows the work. Chapter one becomes an argument, not a survey of everyone who wrote before you.
Rewrite for a Wider Reader
Define your field's vocabulary the first time it appears. Assume an intelligent reader from an adjacent discipline rather than three specialists on your committee.
Publish With ISBN & DOI
The finished book gets a free ISBN, an optional CrossRef/DataCite DOI, and a listing that makes it citable and orderable rather than filed in a university repository.
| Element | In the thesis | In the book |
|---|---|---|
| Opening chapter | Literature review, 40–60 pages | The argument, 12–20 pages |
| Methodology | Full defence of every choice | Summarised; detail moves to an appendix |
| Voice | Written for examiners | Written for readers in your field and next to it |
| Citations | Exhaustive, to prove coverage | Selective, to support the point being made |
| Typical length | 200–350 pages | 150–250 pages after restructuring |
| Identifier | Repository handle, if any | ISBN, plus DOI where registered |
| Who can find it | Your university's repository | Retailers, libraries and citation databases |
Is the thesis already published?
Check your university's deposit agreement before you begin. Most Indian universities require the thesis to be deposited in an institutional repository or in Shodhganga, and most explicitly permit later book publication of the same work — but the wording differs between institutions, and a small number ask to be acknowledged or notified. It is a five-minute check that prevents an awkward conversation after the book is in print.
Where chapters have already appeared as journal articles, the copyright position depends on what you signed. Open-access articles published under a CC BY licence — which is how JMVRA publishes — can normally be reused by their own authors with attribution. Articles assigned to a subscription publisher may need written permission first. Bring whatever agreements you have to the editorial team and they will tell you where you stand before any money changes hands.
How long does the rewriting take?
Realistically, a few weeks of your own work — longer than most authors expect, because it is judgement rather than typing. The production schedule shown earlier starts when you send a finished manuscript, not when you finish your viva. Authors who plan to publish often begin restructuring while the thesis is still under examination, when the material is freshest in their minds.
Why bother, if the thesis already exists?
A repository deposit is a record; a book is a publication. It carries an ISBN, appears in retail and library catalogues, counts as a formal publication in most academic promotion and API frameworks, and can be cited unambiguously by other researchers. It also reaches people who will never search a single university's repository — which, for most theses, is almost everybody.
Publish Your Thesis — as a Journal Paper or an ISBN Book
Two routes, one goal: turning years of doctoral or master’s research into a permanent, citable publication that other researchers can find.
A thesis is usually read by an examination committee and then filed in a university repository. Publishing it changes who can reach it. With Journal of Modern and Versatile Research Approach (JMVRA) you can publish the core of your thesis as a peer-reviewed, open-access research paper; with JW Book, the book-publishing service of the same group, you can publish the whole work as a book with its own ISBN. Many authors do both — a paper for the key finding, and a book for the full study.
How to Publish and Submit Your Thesis
The journal route uses the same online submission as every research paper — there is no separate thesis form.
- 1
Choose your route
A focused finding suits a research paper; a complete, book-length study suits an ISBN book. Both are explained on this page.
- 2
Prepare the manuscript
For a paper, condense the thesis to its question, method, key results and conclusion in the journal template; for a book, restructure it for readers rather than examiners.
- 3
Check originality
Run a similarity check and cite your own thesis where text is reused. A clean report avoids delays at screening.
- 4
Submit online
Submit the paper through the online submission form and mention that it is derived from your thesis or dissertation.
- 5
Peer review
Your paper is evaluated by expert reviewers, and acceptance or rejection notifications are sent via email and SMS.
- 6
Pay & publish
Only after acceptance, pay the publication charge; the paper is published open access with certificates for the authors.
Advantages of Publishing Your Thesis
A permanent, citable record
A published paper or book can be cited precisely; a repository copy is often hard to find and harder to cite.
Read beyond your university
Open access means anyone can read and download your work, not only those with access to your institution’s library.
Expert peer feedback
Reviewers’ comments sharpen the argument and the presentation of your findings before they go public.
Strengthens your academic profile
A publication can be listed on your CV, ORCID and Google Scholar profile and presented for appraisal as your institution’s rules allow.
DOI on request
Register a Crossref DOI so your thesis paper always resolves, even if web addresses change.
Certificates for authors
Publication certificates are issued, which helps when submitting evidence of research output.
Same low charge as a paper
No special thesis surcharge: the charge is the standard research-paper fee, paid only after acceptance.
Every subject welcome
A multidisciplinary journal, so theses from science, engineering, management, humanities and more all fit.
What It Costs to Publish Your Thesis
Thesis papers are charged exactly the same as any research paper — nothing at submission, and nothing if the paper is not accepted.
| Item | Thesis as a journal paper | Thesis as an ISBN book (JW Book) |
|---|---|---|
| Main charge | ₹971 INR (Indian) / $41 USD (foreign), after acceptance | Plans from ₹2,500 + GST |
| Identifier | Permanent paper ID; Crossref DOI on request (₹300 / $20) | Free ISBN; DOI optional |
| Review | Peer review before acceptance | Editorial review of the manuscript |
| Extra authors | ₹500 per author beyond five (Indian authors) | As per the chosen plan |
| Best for | The key finding of the thesis | The complete thesis as a book |

The Complete Guide to Publishing a Thesis and a Book in India
Everything a research scholar or faculty author needs to know before turning a thesis or manuscript into a publication.
Why most theses are never read — and how publication changes that
A doctoral thesis is often the most substantial piece of research its author will ever produce, yet once the viva is over it is usually deposited in a university repository and rarely opened again. Repositories are valuable archives, but they are not where most researchers search. Journal databases, Google Scholar, library catalogues and book retailers are. Publication moves your work into those places, gives it an identifier that other scholars can cite without ambiguity, and puts your name on the finding in a form that lasts.
Thesis, research paper or book: choosing the right format
- Research paper: best when one chapter or one result is the heart of the thesis. It is shorter to prepare, reaches readers quickly through the journal, and is the format most promotion and appraisal systems recognise first.
- ISBN book (monograph): best when the whole study holds together as a narrative — a historical analysis, a long-term field study, a literary or legal examination that loses its force in fragments.
- Both: publish the headline finding as a paper, then the complete work as a book that cites the paper. Most universities and publishers accept this when each is disclosed.
Condensing a 300-page thesis into a 15-page paper
The hardest part is deciding what to leave out. Start from the single question your thesis answers best. Keep the method only as far as a reader needs to trust the result, report the two or three findings that matter most, and move everything else — extended literature surveys, pilot studies, side analyses — out of the paper. Rewrite rather than copy: a paper has a different rhythm from a thesis chapter, and fresh writing also keeps the similarity score in a healthy range.
- Title that names the finding, not just the topic
- Abstract of about 200–250 words with the result stated plainly
- Introduction that ends with your research question
- Method short enough to follow, complete enough to repeat
- Results with clear tables or figures — no more than the argument needs
- Discussion that compares your result with published work
- References formatted consistently, including your own thesis
Plagiarism, self-plagiarism and the UGC similarity rules
The UGC (Promotion of Academic Integrity and Prevention of Plagiarism in Higher Educational Institutions) Regulations, 2018 grade similarity into levels: up to 10% is treated as minor, with higher bands of 10–40%, 40–60% and above 60% carrying increasing consequences for academic work. A thesis that has been deposited in a repository can show up in a similarity report against your own paper — that is expected, and it is why you should cite your thesis and tell the editor about the deposit, so the report is read correctly.
Copyright and permissions
Check your university’s thesis deposit agreement first; most permit later publication, but some ask to be acknowledged. Papers in JMVRA are published open access under a Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY 4.0) licence, so readers may share and reuse them with credit, and you keep the right to build on your own work. If figures or long quotations come from other people’s publications, obtain permission or replace them before submission.
ISBN, ISSN and DOI — which identifier does what
An ISBN identifies a book edition; in India it is issued free by the Raja Rammohun Roy National Agency for ISBN, and JW Book allots one on every plan. An ISSN identifies a journal — JMVRA’s is 2984-8911 — and every paper in it sits under that number. A DOI identifies one specific paper, chapter or book and resolves to it permanently. A thesis paper carries the journal’s ISSN and can have a DOI on request; a thesis book carries its own ISBN and can also have a DOI.
Writing a book from your thesis or research
A book reader is not an examiner. Open with the problem and why it matters, state your answer early, and use the chapters to show the evidence. Shorten the literature review into context, move detailed methodology to an appendix, and add a conclusion that looks forward. Professional editing, cover design and typesetting turn the manuscript into a book that looks and reads like one — the plans above show what each level includes.
After publication: helping your work get found
- Add the paper or book to your ORCID record and Google Scholar profile.
- Deposit the published version in your institutional repository where the licence allows.
- Share the DOI or paper link, rather than a PDF attachment, so every read and citation points to one record.
- Cite the published version in your later work, and ask co-authors to do the same.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Submitting a thesis chapter unchanged — it reads as a chapter, not a paper, and scores high on similarity.
- Forgetting to cite your own thesis or earlier papers drawn from it.
- Leaving co-authors or supervisors out of the decision about authorship.
- Paying any publisher before you have an acceptance — JMVRA charges only after acceptance.
- Choosing a book when the material is really one strong paper, or a paper when it is really a book.
- Publish the key finding as a peer-reviewed paper for ₹971 INR / $41 USD — the same as any paper.
- Publish the full thesis as an ISBN book with JW Book, from ₹2,500 + GST.
- Cite your thesis, check similarity, and confirm your university’s deposit terms.
- Submit online at any time — nothing is charged until acceptance.
What every JW Book plan includes
Plans differ in the extras — DOI, plagiarism report, peer review, printed copies, cover design and retail listing — as the table above shows. Prices on this page exclude 18% GST.
- A free ISBN for each format — paperback, hardcover and ebook each get their own.
- 100% copyright and 100% royalty stay with the author; JW Book takes no cut of sales.
- The Anvi-AI book creator to draft, structure and format chapters, every draft approved by you.
- Print-on-demand with no minimum order, and the EAN-13 barcode placed on the back cover.
- Front matter, running heads, page numbers and the copyright page built around your chapters.
- A GST invoice, and the ISBN details you need for an API, CAS or NAAC file.
