| Scopus / International Journals | Below 20% | International journals often accept up to 20%. |
| PhD Thesis (Indian Universities) | Below 10% | Most universities require below 10%, excluding references. |
| Book Manuscripts | Below 15% | Academic publishers typically accept up to 15%. |

Similarity is not the same as plagiarism
A high score can come from correctly cited quotations, standard method descriptions or your own reference list. To reduce it: paraphrase high-similarity passages properly, quote and cite anything taken verbatim, exclude the bibliography where the journal allows it, drop template boilerplate, and avoid reusing large sections of your own earlier publications. See the Plagiarism Policy for how JMVRA assesses a report.
What Can Be Checked
Research Papers
Pre-submission check for UGC CARE, Scopus and international journals. Below 15–20% is typically required.
PhD Thesis & Dissertations
Mandatory at most Indian universities under UGC plagiarism regulations. Usually below 10%, excluding references.
Book Manuscripts
Required by academic publishers — full books, single chapters or edited volumes. See book publication.
Conference Papers
Required by IEEE, Springer and Scopus-indexed proceedings before acceptance, typically below 20%.
Assignments & Projects
For B.Tech, M.Tech, MBA and other coursework needing an institutional plagiarism certificate.
AI Writing Review
An AI writing percentage alongside the similarity score, so you can disclose AI use before a committee flags it.
