The short, current answer: what JMVRA’s status is today, why the phrase “UGC CARE Approved” no longer means what it once did, and exactly where to check every claim on this page for yourself.

The UGC CARE (Consortium for Academic and Research Ethics) journal list was an initiative by the University Grants Commission of India intended to promote academic and research integrity — a reference researchers used to identify credible journals for publication.
The full parameter-by-parameter detail, with the primary UGC notice linked, is on our dedicated compliance page.

For indexing status in databases such as Scopus or Web of Science, refer to their own current lists — the information here should be independently verified before you submit or pay.
The numbered list closed before JMVRA existed; the parameters that apply today came after. That is the whole status question in six dates.
Six checks, each one a link you can open now. Together they are what UGC’s Suggested Parameters ask a reader to look for.

No journal can hold a current CARE certificate — UGC discontinued the listing on 3 October 2024. What JMVRA does instead is document how it meets the Peer-Reviewed Journal Policy that replaced the list: verified ISSN, transparent peer review, a named editorial board, published ethics, a disclosed fee and an available CrossRef DOI. The full parameter-by-parameter detail is on our compliance page.
JMVRA is a peer-reviewed, refereed journal. For any specific database — Scopus, Web of Science or otherwise — check that database’s own current source list directly by ISSN rather than relying on a claim from any journal, including this one.
Because that is factually accurate. UGC’s public notice discontinued the listing framework entirely; there is no live list any journal — anywhere — can be placed on today. Treat any current “UGC CARE Approved 2025/2026” claim with that in mind.
An earlier four-group arrangement that preceded the later Group I / Group II structure. Group A covered Scopus or Web of Science indexed titles; Group B carried journals from an even earlier list; Group C held Council-recommended journals; Group D held journals submitted by CARE Universities. All four describe the list era.
Verify the journal directly: ISSN on the ISSN Portal, named editors with checkable affiliations, the published peer-review and ethics policies, working CrossRef DOI links, and the complete fee. Our full journal-finder toolkit walks through each database search step by step.
Yes — UGC published separate clone alerts for what were Group I and Group II titles, both linked below. Our dedicated cloned-journal guide covers the full detection method.
That process — eligibility, application and what reviewers receive — is covered in full on our dedicated reviewer and editor page, linked below.
JMVRA publishes its charges in full: ₹971 INR for Indian authors and $41 USD for international authors, payable only after acceptance.
